In 1987, a New York City school teacher named Irv Gordon gained notoriety when his 1966 Volvo P1800 coupe hit one million miles of use. I wrote an article about Irv’s car at the time, but I never got to meet him. Last weekend, I finally had a face-to-face with him at the Iola Old Car Show. What a great car enthusiast. When his car hit two million miles in March 2002, Irv made it into the Guinness Book of Records. On his trip to Wisconsin this month, he went sailing past 2.7 million mile! And all he really does is take care of the car the way the owner’s manual tells him to, What a great story!
