The “Coffee Clutchers” is the name used for a bunch of guys who get together for breakfast every once in awhile. And then, after some good food to start the day, we go to a car collection or hobby business.
This is not a car club. There is no roster, no dues, no newsletter and no membership. It is all done by word of mouth. In fact, with 50 guys showing up last week, the original Coffee Clutchers is getting a little too big to fit in some eateries. But I’m not going to discourage the concept. Why not start a Coffee Clutcher group in your own area?
Our first stop last week was Joe P’s fantastic home workshop where he builds cars that most of us only can dream of: a Model T boat-tail speedster, a Buick “Fireball” Eight dragster a classic-looking what-cha-ma-call-it that resembles a Cord, Auburn and Ruxton all rolled into one.
I say that Joe P. has “Adult Super Vision” because he’s been building super cars for years and it takes a lot of vision to do this. I’m not going to announce Joe’s full name or location because this is a private collection and we respect that. But we’re glad that being a Coffee Clutcher got us in the door. He’s a real artist with sheet metal, wood, paint and motors and getting to see his dream machines in person was a real treat.
