Since I left the Old Cars Weekly staff in January 2008, I have been doing free-lance writing for my favorite old-car publication (OCW of course) and many others. The only way you can know what’s going on in the hobby is to travel, so I have made as many trips as I possibly can. Each time I go some place and take photos,I put them on a CD and put the CD in a 5 x 7 manilla envelope that I store in a plastic bin with a drawer. By the end of 2008, the bin had 92 envelopews in it. For 2009, I am already up to 59 envelopes and I’m way behind on my filing. I think I’ll probably hit 90 again by year’s end.
The CDs show cars I shot photos of, museums, private collections, car shows, cruises, parties, automobilia, trucks, people and everything else you can think of. Recently, it dawned on me that perhaps I should compile my trips and do a “Gunner-ver’s Travels” type book or CD or magazine. This would allow other folks to see some of the great places that exist in this hobby of ours. I wonder if there would be any interest in something like that? Possibly. On the other hand, it seems like everyone in this hobby travels a lot and has their own stories to tell.
