SHIFTY CHARACTER

Last week I made my second visit to the Hot Rod & Restoration Show in Indianapolis, Ind. This year we made it a point to ttend as many seminars as possible on Thursday, which is called Education Day at this event. Every seminar was fantastic, but the one that stood out for us was Mark Bowler’s session on transmissions. Mark is a young man who knows automatic transmissions inside and out and he’s probably not the only one. However, we’ll bet that he’s the only one that talks about his tranny work with a great big, giant smile on his face. You can just tell that, in addition to being an expert, Mark is one of those guys who really loves his work. Mark’s focus is on the GM 700-R4, GM 2004R, the newer GM electronics, the Ford 4R70W and 4R100 and the Mopar 727 and 48RE. His Bowler Performance Transmissions (www.bowlertransmissions.com) can upgrade any of these units to make them perform better than the factory techs ever dreamed they could. In addition to total performance builds, Mark can also fix some of the issues these automatics were famous for such as TV Cable problems and lock-up converter wiring ills. Check out his Website. You’ll be impressed. When the snow melts I want to drive my ’89 Chevy cop car to his shop for a tranny tune-up.
