Last week at the NEW Motorama show in Green Bay, Old Cars Weekly ran into Ryan Evans from Counts Kustoms in Las Vegas. Evans is going to return to Wisconsin in July for the Iola Old Car Show, where he’ll be appearing in the Vintage Works (www.vintageworks.com) exhibit at the show.

Ryan came to the NEW Motorama to meet and greet fans of his cable TV Show. But, he also took part in a Brushworkz Panel Jam that was part of the show. It turns out that a few of the pin striping artists participating in the Panel Jam were Ryan’s heroes and he was having a ball pin striping panels and pedal cars with them. Well, actually, Ryan was pin striping a hubcap himself.

Now, Ryan wasn’t doing this as part of his promotional “job” at the show. He was doing it because he respected the talents of the other artists and because he was just having a ball pin stripping that old wheel cover. It was interesting to watch him while he worked, because he was really in “The Zone.”

Last year, Ryan was in Wisconsin for the grand opening of Vintage Works and he started another project decorating an old, snub nose COE truck for them. The paint job on the truck is amazing and we’re looking forward to see the vehicle completed.

If you want to meet Ryan or get his autograph or ask him questions about how to paint or pin stripe, you might want to pencil in the Iola Car Show on your calendar. The show always takes place the second week in July from Thursday to Saturday. It remains one of the major car shows and swap meets in the United States and is right up there with Hershey and Carlisle in the Big 3 territory. If you need car show information visit www.iolaoldcarshow.com. This year Iola will be featuring Dodge Chargers and trucks.
