Things are going pretty good down here at the Mecum Auction in Indianapolis. The Indiana State Fairgrounds is packed with people and cars are selling. As for prices, I watched a 1957 Issetta sell for more than $20,000 today.
As people buy cars, they rush to get their trailers ready for loading or they sign up to have Reliable Transporters take their new “baby” home.
Can you remember a time when we bought old cars and DROVE them home? Today’s collectors can’t even fathom such a thing as driving a ’50s car out of state, while we used to cross the Continent in them.
Boy would I love to hear stories about bringing cars home years ago.

He remains a frequent contributor to Old Cars Weekly and owns and operates Gunner’s Great Garage, a classic car restoration and gift shop in Manawa, Wis.

Driving it home gives you the chance to show off your new car!
It’s about time for a new posting, don’t you think!!
