Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Location: 18th Fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Links
First conducted in 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has been called the world’s premier celebration of the automobile. The most beautiful and rare automobiles are invited to appear on the famed 18th fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Links each year, attracting connoisseurs of art and technology from around the world.
Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance
Aug. 14, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Pebble Beach to Laguna Seca to Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea at noon.
The Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance showcases the elegance of the automobile in motion, while highlighting the history of Pebble Beach. Spectators can view these cars driving on Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel. Tour participants are Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance entrants only.
Pebble Beach RetroAuto
Aug. 13-16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
The Inn at Spanish Bay
The RetroAuto pavilion features rare collectibles and memorabilia. Exhibitors represent a variety of retail and manufacturing categories, including historic automobilia, auto parts, original poster art, books and literature, fine art, photography and posters, and luxury items.
Automotive Fine Arts Society Exhibit
Aug. 17, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: 18th Fairway on the Pebble Beach Golf Links
The latest creations by the finest automotive artists of our day are displayed annually at the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) Exhibition, located on the show field of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. (Concours ticket required for admittance.)
Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion
Aug. 14-17, 8:30-4:30
Location: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Salinas, Calif.
This “celebration of motorsports history” reunites authentic race cars with a world-class road racing track, allowing race fans to witness motor racing as it once was.
The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering
Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Quail Lodge & Golf Club
The Quail motorsports gathering highlights both vintage sporting automobiles and cuisine. Tickets are difficult to obtain.
Aug. 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Laguna Seca Golf Ranch
Concorso Italiano is a celebration of Italian style and cultural elements such as cars, music, food and fashion. The event features more than 800 Italian vehicles at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.
Aug. 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Ocean Avenue, Carmel-By-The-Sea
Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue is an annual event featuring a variety of vehicles including luxury cars, muscle cars, hot rods and sporting cars on Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel. More than 175 vehicles will be on display.
Aug. 12-13, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Ballroom of the Embassy Suites
The 12th annual automobilia show will be held in the ballroom of the Embassy Suites hotel off Highway 1.
Aug. 16, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Laguna Grande Park, 1249 Canyon Del Rey Blvd, Seaside, Calif.
This offbeat car event celebrates the oddball and mundane vehicles of the automotive world.
Russo & Steele Auction
Aug. 14-16, Preview 10 a.m., auction at 5 p.m.
Location: Waterfront by Fisherman’s Wharf, 290 Figueroa Street, Monterey
Highlights include an outstanding 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, a 1956 300 SL “Gullwing” Coupe, a pair of screaming Lola-Mazda T616 Group C sports racers from 1984 due to sell at no reserve, plus the first Indianapolis Eagle (Chassis 40-1) built in 1968 by Dan Gurney’s All American Racers (AAR) for long-running team owner Lindsey Hopkins.
Aug. 14-16, 9 a.m. road art, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for vehicles
Location: 1 Old Golf Course Road, Monterey
Highlights include a 1995 Porsche 962 K8 Spyder, which finished 1st Place Overall at The 24 Hours of Daytona; a 1972 McLaren M20 Can-Am driven by Peter Revson for Team McLaren; 1961 Ferrari 250 Series II Cabriolet with 5,200 Original Kilometers; and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.
Aug. 15-16, 6 p.m.
Location: Portola Hotel & Spa, Monterey
Highlights include the only Ferrari to win the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, a fully-restored Mercedes-Benz “Ponton” 220 S , American aristocrat William A.M. Burden Jr.’s Mercedes-Benz 540 K, an award-winning one-off design with Autobahnkurier-inspired styling, plus the second-to-last Shelby 427 Cobra made, with only 1,819 original miles.
In addition, a special 1911 Mercer Raceabout once owned by Henry Austin “Austie” Clark Jr., who literally wrote the book with Beverly Rae Kimes on Mercer and more than 5,000 other prewar cars for Old Cars Weekly in “The Standard Catalog of America Cars 1805-1942,” will cross the auction block, too. From America are the following highlights: 1899 Locomobile Steam Runabout, a pair of 1905 REOs, two Stanleys and a 1913 Pope-Hartford Model 31 Portola Roadster.
