$2M Bugatti lands in Texas saltwater

admin |

A Lufkin, Texas man, distracted by a low-flying pelican, lost control of his Bugatti Veyron and submerged it into a saltwater lagoon yesterday.

According to the Galveston Daily News, the accident occurred on North Interstate 45, just south of a hurricane levee near Omega Bay as the man was out looking at real estate.

The Galveston Daily News described the incident: “The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone, and the car’s front tire left the frontage road and entered a muddy patch, which foiled his attempt to maneuver away from the lagoon.

“The Veyron’s powerful engine gurgled like an outboard motor for about 15 minutes before it died.”

A frontage road was blocked while a tow operator retrieved the car.

New, the Bugatti Veyron sells for about $2 million.

Understandably, the owner would not provide the Galveston reporter his name.
