2016 marks the 42nd season of operation for Carlisle Events with 11 events on the season schedule, plus four collector car auctions. Of the 11 events, eight are held at the Carlisle Pa. Fairgrounds. Aside from the “home schedule,” Carlisle Events hosts an event in Allentown as well as two in Lakeland, Fla. The Allentown event and the February Lakeland offering are completed, so until November, every remaining show is happening in Carlisle.
It all gets underway with Spring Carlisle. 100,000 car lovers converge on Carlisle for five days, April 20-24. The weekend includes a two-day auction with Carlisle Auctions, metal working seminars, a place to buy classic cars as well as modern daily drivers and a massive swap meet.
The newly branded Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals features more than 2,000 show vehicles and joins together the former Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals with the former Carlisle Performance & Style show. In addition to thousands of show cars, there will be autocross, drifting, a rolling exhaust competition, burnouts and more.
June ushers in the first of three shows that are heavy on muscle. The Carlisle Ford Nationals open the month, June 3-5 with the world’s largest all-Ford theme weekend. This year hosts the Bronco, Torino, 40 years of Rousch, the Mystic Cobra, Pintos, 1966 Fords and it’ll all get underway with an all-Mustang themed American Flag. Two weeks later, June 17-19, it’s the Carlisle GM Nationals. For GM in 2016, it’s the 15th anniversary of the show which features the Hurst Olds, Toronado, GM LS-series engines and the Solid Lifter Showroom. Next up in July is the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, the biggest all-Mopar event in the world, July 15-17. The event spotlights 50 years of the Charger and Street Hemi.
August ushers in two popular shows that are such for very different reasons. The Carlisle Truck Nationals run August 5-7 and features trucks of all sizes and eras. The last event of the month is the first-ever car specific show hosted by Carlisle Events; Corvettes at Carlisle. A fourth day was added for 2016. This year’s event is planned for August 25-28.
Carlisle Events ends its season with a pair of swap meet, car corral and auction events. Fall Carlisle runs Sept. 28-Oct. 2 and Fall Florida AutoFest in Lakeland takes place Nov. 10-13. This will be the third event backed by Carlisle Events in Lakeland and just like many of Carlisle’s other events, draws guests from around the world.
