MILWAUKEE  — An eye-catching 1937 Rolls Royce, owned by Larry Klairmont, Klairmont Kollections, Chicago, Ill., is returning to The Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d’ Elegance show field for 2014. In 2005, at the inaugural Milwaukee Masterpiece, the Klairmont Rolls captured the first People’s Choice award.

From 1936 to 1939, only 727 chassis were constructed by Rolls Royce. The PIII is unusual for its twin ignition systems, with two distributors, two coils and 24 spark plugs. Fuel is provided by a twin SU electric pump. Wire wheels are fitted as standard, but many cars carry Ace wheel discs.

The car features on-board jacking and a one-shot chassis lubrication system, operated by a lever inside the driver’s compartment. Independent front suspension by a coil spring-based system is complemented by a carryover semi-elliptical spring unit in the rear. The car has a 4-speed manual transmission with synchromesh on gears 2, 3 and 4.

“This beauty, with coachwork originally designed by Vanvooran of Paris in the 1930s, literally stops people in their tracks,” said Leon Flagg, chairman, The Masterpiece Ltd. “It won its class at Pebble Beach and just received Best of Show at a recent Rolls Royce Owner Club event. We’re delighted to have the Klairmont Rolls return to the show field.”

The Milwaukee Masterpiece is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2014. The Milwaukee Masterpiece will feature different collections on each day of the weekend-long event, Aug. 23 – 24, at Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s lakefront. The public is invited.

Events include:

Club Saturday At The M, Aug. 23 – A gathering of local and regional car club members who display their favored marques. Club Day will begin with a Parade of vehicles from the Harley-Davidson Museum to the show grounds on Aug. 23.

The Style & Speed Social, Aug. 23 – A social event in which Milwaukee Masterpiece participants and guests enjoy an evening of food, beverage and camaraderie in a unique setting. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Masterpiece Ltd. is organized and operated exclusively to support other public charities including but not limited to those operating in southeastern Wisconsin which provide medical and social service care and relief to underprivileged children and families through various motor vehicle-related fundraising events.
