Jim Wangers to celebrate 85th birthday in style

Celebrate a special 85th birthday on June 26 as Jim Wangers will turn 85 years young. Ironically, Pontiac also turns 85 this year. Mark your calendar for June 26 as they will be throwing a Pontiac party like no other in celebration of Jim Wangers’ 85th Birthday… and Pontiac’s too!

This is a very special Pontiac Concours event is being held on a private ranch in Fallbrook, Calif., and will be limited to — you guessed it — 85 Pontiacs. The Poncours show field is now complete with 85 wonderful Pontiacs with cars coming from as far away as North Carolina and Missouri. The party is open to all and you still have time to RSVP (details below).

Jim Wangers seems to be ageless as he continues to travel the country appearing at numerous Pontiac and automotive events around the country. Look for special birthday celebrations at many of this year’s Pontiac conventions. Jim Wangers didn’t create the GTO, but he certainly was responsible for building the mystique that surrounds the legendary Pontiac.  One such program that fed the public’s hunger for excitement was the 1966 GeeTO Tiger Show.

Jump ahead more than 35 years and Jim Wangers is at it again.  Jim Wangers and a host of vendor partners reincarnated the legendary 1966 GeeTO Tiger in late 2001.  In 2002 the GeeTO Tiger roared to life at Pontiac events across the country demonstrating its tremendous nostalgic appeal, reviving an emotion that energized Pontiac enthusiasts of all ages. The new GeeTO Tiger is one of the most recognized GTOs within the Pontiac community.  The Tiger continues to draw interest from fans and event promoters coast-to-coast.  Thanks to the support of a great group of performance and aftermarket partners the GeeTO Tiger roars louder than ever.

Powered by a Butler Performance 505 cubic inches engine using an AllPontiac.com IA II block, this 3600 pound Tiger made a best 1/4 mile pass of 10.31 ET at 130 mph on a Mickey Thompson 28×10.5 tire.

85th Birthday Edition Glove Box Emblem

In celebration of Jim Wangers 85th Birthday (and Pontiac’s too), this beautiful glove box door emblem has been created. As the rendering shows, the emblem will be 4 inches wide. The emblem will be chrome plated with Jim’s signature and the lettering of baked on enamel and backed by an adhesive.

A limited number of these emblems is available for $30. Avery special Limited Edition version will also be available at the event. Visit www.geetotiger.com for more details.
