In an associated press report, someone decided to steal the hood off of an ice cream truck. Dave Tracy said someone took the hood from one of the Hershey’s delivery trucks he manages. He can understand stealing the ice cream inside the trucks, but not just the hood. The branch manager at Hershey’s Augusta warehouse said "nothing like this has ever happened."
According to Tracy, the fiberglass hood was 7-1/2-by-6 feet and 4 feet deep, thus not something that is easily touted around.
Tracy, who’s worked for Hershey’s for 23 years, discovered the theft on Monday. Augusta police said the thieves probably needed a hood identical to the one on the ice cream truck.
