WALWORTH, Wis. – Mecum Auctions cruised back into Dallas and a total of 756 cars went home with determined bidders over the span of just four days. Total sales for the high-energy event reached $24.6 million, with Mecum Auctions selling 73 percent of the auction’s 1,041 consigned vehicles.
The Dallas auction kicked off Wednesday with a large group of vehicles from the collection of Ron MacWhorter, which achieved a near-100-percent sell-through rate. The offering created an audible buzz of excitement among the crowd of bidders and spectators, and more than $2.4 million worth of collector cars changed hands in a matter of hours. Jim Fasnacht’s collection of ultra-rare and desirable American muscle cars crossed the auction block Friday, with several landing among the auction’s top sellers including his 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda at $260,000 and his 440/375hp V8-equipped 1969 Dodge Daytona bringing a solid $242,500.
