Art Cars to light up downtown Houston

The illuminated art cars will travel down Avenida De Las Americas in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center.  The event will conclude with an “AfterGlow” party inside Hall A of the building.

Street-side parade viewing is free, while GlowoRama VIP Balcony Viewing tickets and AfterGlow party tickets are available at www.GlowoRama.com.

“The GlowoRama will be a celebration of the two largest, most recognized automotive traditions in the Houston-area,” said Bob Larivee Jr., CEO of Championship Auto Shows Inc.  “The art car artists in Houston share our passion for custom cars and have developed quite a following in Texas, as well as throughout the country.  I can’t think of a better way to commemorate our 50th anniversary.”

The night procession of art cars will begin immediately following the 9 p.m. closing of the AutoRama on Saturday.  The AfterGlow party inside the convention center will include a cash bar and food, music by The Rich Latimer Band and stunning views of some the nation’s top custom cars and motorcycles on display at the Houston AutoRama.

“We’re very excited to be participating in AutoRama’s 50th Anniversary,” said Evelyn Fasnacht, president of Art Cars of Houston Inc.  “And we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our art cars in a way that they’ve not been seen before in Houston – fully illuminated in a nighttime parade.”

The O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama in Houston will take place Nov. 26-29 and is one of the largest and longest running indoor car shows in the United States.  The Thanksgiving Weekend event will feature a salute to the past five decades, as well as a stellar lineup of custom cars, motorcycles, racecars, tuners, trucks and family entertainment.  The O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama is sanctioned by the International Show Car Association (ISCA).

The 50th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama is presented by Super Start Batteries in Houston and sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts and is part of the Summit Racing Show Car Series.  Event hours are Thursday from 3-9 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.  Discount tickets are available at Houston-area O’Reilly Auto Parts stores; regular admission tickets may be purchased at the George R. Brown Convention Center with children five years old and under admitted for free.  Additional information about the show is available at www.autorama.com.
