The Iola Old Car Show and the Vintage Military Show aren’t the only hip automotive events to hit the greater Iola, Wis., area. The Symco Shakedown rumbles the tiny town of Symco, Wis., with throaty pipes, chirping cheater slicks and the twang of guitars every August.
This year’s event will be held Aug. 10-11, the same weekend as the Vintage Military Show, and just 10 miles down the road. Show hours are 8 a.m.-11 p.m. both days.
Show vehicles — free with a paid weekend admission — must meet the vehicle criteria. Organizers stress, “We want old school. We are looking for vehicles modified in a period correct/traditional feel. If you have anything that doesn’t fit the bill, either take it off, hide it or you will be parked in the VIP parking area. We want the grounds to feel as if you were walking down a main street in 1964 or before.”
