Classic cars, rare vehicles, automotive art, and a wide selection of vintage car-and-truck collectibles sound like the fundamental elements of an invitation-only concours d’elegance, but at the Iola Old Car Show in Iola, Wisconsin, they are all unique items available for purchase in the huge swap meet.
With more than 4,000 vendor spaces packed with practically everything related to older automobiles, the Iola 2005 swap meet held treasures for seasoned collectors as well as casual enthusiasts. Strolling the grassy aisles of the meet, one could see the usual assortment of wheels, frames, engines, and trim pieces of cars from the 1920s to the 1980s. Old oil cans, gas pumps, and globes from every major petroleum company were present, and car dealer promotional items ranging from dealer signs, models, and banners were looking for new homes. Hubcaps, books, repair manuals, and body parts made up the remainder of the swap meet stock that was for sale.
