Hitting the Road This Summer? Here’s 5 Things You’ll Need
The spirits are high, you’re all set for your dreamy road trip with your friends, and you’re ready to explore. What’s the worst that can happen? There are enough of you and your excitement will get you through almost anything – true, but except for unpredictable weather, neck strains, no GPS, dead phone battery, and food and water.
Get the deal? While nothing can knock you down, some hiccups can definitely mess up your trip by wasting your time, tiring you, and leaving you all frustrated and grumpy during what was supposed to be the best time of the year.
We’ve curated a list of five road essentials for you that must be a part of your arsenal if you want to kill the very possibility of you suffering from the uncontrollable. Let’s get started!
1. Travel pillow
You may need actual human friends to have fun with but a travel pillow is the only thing that’s going to be your best friend when you need to take a nap on your road trip. There are two kinds of people in the world; those who can fall asleep during road trips and those who can’t and envy the former ones. Guess what? If you belong to the second category, you can easily convert to the first one if you’ve got the right travel pillow.
There are various kinds of travel pillows out there – each one differs from the other on the basis of shape, filling, and how it’s worn.
There are travel pillows out there you place around your neck, some you tie around the top of your head and chin, and others could just comfort your back.
2. Power bank
Whether your phone battery’s life is on the verge of expiry or the road trip is too long, you’ll need your power bank at some point on your trip. You need your phone for social media, for directions, to make calls and whatnot. It’s almost impossible for you to complete your trips without your phone – and with Uber and all, you need your battery to survive more than ever. That’s exactly where a power bank steps in, so you can charge your phone on the go and never run out of battery.
3. Umbrella
You need umbrellas in three extreme seasons; scorching heat in the summer, rainy weather, and snow. So if you’re planning a trip in the summer, you’re going to have to save yourself from the sun. While sunscreen may protect your skin against harmful UV rays, you’ll also have to protect yourself from heat exhaustion. So make sure you carry an umbrella. Even if it starts to rain, you’ll have a shade to turn to.
4. Internet connection
It goes without saying but having a proper, working internet connection is a must. Many a time, we travel to hill stations where there’s very little-to-no reception. This can be really frustrating for folks who work on the go and have pending submissions, or meetings to attend. This is why it’s important that you carry a wireless internet device with you – you must also do your homework about whether your internet provider covers the area you’re traveling to. You’ll need your internet if you plan on staying connected to the world during your road trip.
5. Reusable water bottle
Last but the most obvious need – your body’s fuel. While we’re certain that you’ll have enough to munch on during your trip, it’s important that you purchase a water bottle. Your ideal water bottle should be insulated so it keeps your water cold for longer.
While you can always purchase disposable water bottles along the way, it will only add to your already bursting travel expenses. Having your personal water bottle allows you to fill it up for free and stay hydrated!
