I just sold six Honda Baby Dream motorcycles that I bought a couple of years ago. I also gave the buyer all the parts and books that I bought when I was dreaming of restoring the Dreams. When I add up what I paid for the bikes, the hassle and cost of bringing them home, the price of the parts and books and the space I devoted to storing them, I pretty much broke even on the deal. In fact, I may have even lost a few bucks. Isn't that they way this collecting goes? We're like kids whose "eyes are bigger than our mouth." We fall in love with something vintage, we buy it, we start doing a little restoration, then we stop and eventually we re-sell the items to get back as much as we can of our original investment. Why do we do this? Because we're all nuts, of course.
