Generation Gap?

The young people of today don't seem to have the same love of cars that those of us who grew up in the '50s and '60s had. I say this from experience. Sitting in my car building is a pretty nice '57 Buick Century sedan that runs pretty much like a clock and needs only as touch of body work and paint to be a showpiece. My son found an ad for the Buick five years ago. I had told him to find a car that I could buy for us to work on together. Then, when the car was fixed, he could buy it from me for the original price we paid for it. All the parts and labor would be free. So we fixed the car up and I waited for him to buy it. I'm still waiting.

My son grew up going to car shows and reading about cars. He knows a lot about their history. Since he was six or seven, he always imprtessed family and friends with his knowledge of cars. He visits lots of car websites. He even tells me some of the latest car news. But strangely, he just doesn't find the idea of owning a nice '57 Buick to be enough motivation to buy the car from me (for about half what we have in it).

So I have to say that I think there's a generation gap in the hobby. What do you say? Hit the "comments" link below and let me know what you think on the topic.
