Some Memory

I can never remember where I laid my glasses down or what I'm supposed to bring home from the store after work. But I can (almost) always remember car stuff. My brain just works that way. So when an old 1946 photo of "mystery car" appeared on page 7 of the Nov. 1, 2007 issue of Old Cars Weekly, I recognized it right away as a car I had seen at an auto show in Germany in the 1980s. Then the words "Labourette Rolls-Royce" popped into my head, as if some little trap door in the "hard drive" above my shoulders reached back into the past and sent a message to my thinking cap.

An Internet search turned up photos of this car at the 2007 Pebble Beach venue. Now, I'm trying to put the pieces together for an article. I seem to also remember that this car (at the time I saw it years ago) belonged to Russell Head of "Candy Store" collection fame.

Naturally, I need a little more info for a full-blown article, but I don't think I'm doing too bad for a guy who can't remember whether to bring home milk or bread tonight.

If you know something about the 1939 Labourette Rolls-Royce please uses "Comments" to contact me!
