Remember that 1-of-3 1956 Imperial convertible that we discovered and featured in Old Cars Weekly during 2007? Well, it's now for sale on Craigslist. The owner called us and asked if we knew anyone who would be interested in buying and restoring it. We called a couple folks we knew who would make good stewards, but they were reluctant to put a price on such a rare project. That's good news for you, because the owner has now begun accepting offers from the public.
What's it worth? $10,000? $20,000? $50,000? More? The sky truly is the limit. Due to its 40-some years stored outside, the restoration is likely to be a six-figure affair. However, the car is based on a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker convertible so a rust-free donor New Yorker could go a long way to make this car solid. The remaining parts are 1956 Imperial. Of course, two-door 1956 Chrysler New Yorker and Imperial cars are very uncommon themselves, so the new owner is going to have to do some digging.
The work will be worth it, though, because you'll have the only 1956 Imperial convertible at any show!
