Mickey Thompson: First American to 400 mph exhibit opens Feb. 12 at NHRA Museum

Gale Banks Engineering and the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum are proud to present Mickey Thompson: First American to 400 mph, which opens to the public on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 in conjunction with the 50th anniversary Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals. This feature exhibit celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Mickey’s milestone 400 mph run at the Bonneville Salt Flats on Sept. 9, 1960.

Visitors to Mickey Thompson: First American to 400 mph will be the first to see an astounding and diverse collection of Mickey's most iconic machinery and automotive exploits including the incredible four-Pontiac-engine streamliner Challenger 1, an Indy car, off-road vehicles and drag racing vehicles. Exhibit will be on display through the end of October, 2010.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by Automobile Club of Southern California is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., PST. Current NHRA members are admitted free and Auto Club members enjoy a $2 discount. Admission for non-members is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 60 and older, $5 for juniors six through 15, and free for children under the age of five. The Museum is also available for special group tours. The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is located at Fairplex Gate 1, 1101 W. McKinley Ave. in Pomona.
