Old Cars Reader Wheels: The Wayne Sandford Collection

Old Cars spotlights a reader’s collection of 1940s Chevrolets.

Some guys are lucky enough to get their hands on a classic Chevy. For Wayne Sandford his decade of choice is the 1940s and he has been lucky enough to own five stunning examples of Chevrolet's workmanship.

This is what Wayne had to say about his impressive collection of Chevys...

"My collection is kind of boring, all chevy's of the 40's."

"I got started in 1973 when my soon to be father-in-law gave me the keys to his 1948 chevy Fleetline that he was going to scrap. It took a while to get it running, but it has not stopped running since '73. Since then we have added 4 more Chevrolet's to our collection. Over the years we (My wife Christine and myself) have had 3 Fairlanes, VW's, Studebaker, and a Thunderbird, but the one car we hold onto tight is the 1948 Fleetline that my father-in-law brought new right off the truck at Whitney Chevrolet in New Haven Ct."

"Our newest Chevrolet to arrive is a '48 fleetmaster woodie wagon, as you can see from pictures it is need of work, my winter COVID project!"
