The car is making stops at hot rod shops, GM dealerships, cruise events, car shows and Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) stations.

"The tour provides California enthusiasts a close-up look at the groundbreaking system, along with the opportunity to learn more about integrating it in their project vehicles," noted a GM Performance Parts press release.

The E-ROD crate engine package includes a complete LS3 engine rated at 430 horsepower, emissions equipment – including catalytic converters – and supporting components that enables performance project cars equipped with the engine to pass California’s stringent emissions tests. It is available now through GM dealers, authorized GMPP retailers and via the GMPP Web site.

“E-ROD is a compromise-free package that delivers great power and efficiency, with the emissions of a modern vehicle,” said Dr. Jamie Meyer, product marketing manager for GM Performance Parts. “We developed this system because it’s the right thing to do, but our engineers did not sacrifice the performance that stirs hot rodders in the first place.”

The tour of the '55 Chevy kicked off at California Street Rods in Huntington Beach. Complete tour information, including dates and locations, is available at GMPP is also providing tour information on Facebook and Twitter.
