1956 Cadillac Die Valkyrie by Brooks Stevens to appear at CCCA event

The one-of-a-kind "Die Valkyrie" 1956 Cadillac designed by Brooks Stevens will be displayed at the Classic Car Club of America "Grand Experience" on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Mich., on June 1, 2014. The Grand Experience will celebrate the cars of Cadillac and LaSalle before, through and beyond the Classic era and will be in conjunction with a Grand Classic, which is for Classics only.

"The Bortz Auto Collection was honored to receive a request to have its 1956 Cadillac Eldorado by Brooks Stevens be the featured car at the 2014 CCCA '2014 Grand Experience' at the Gilmore Car Museum," said a representative of the collection, which owns the Die Valkyrie. " This concept car is one of two and was the one featured in 1956 throughout the European 1956 auto shows. It was also the headline grabber at several automobile shows in the United States, including the Madison Square Gardens annual car show."

Die Valkyrie is rarely shown in public, making the Grand Experience a special opportunity for those who have not seen this significant concept car design based on a 1956 Cadillac.

One of the Die Valkyrie's significant design features is its enormous “V” front bumper. According to Joe Bortz, this was done because Brooks Stevens, an international car designer, wanted to show off American V-8 power while the car toured the States as well as Europe, where engines were usually of the inline type. Stevens was also famously known for painting many of his other concept cars in this black-and-white color scheme, and Die Valkyrie wears this signature color combination.
