From all indications, the collector car market in Europe is suddenly hotter than a pistol. Britain's Classic & Sports Car magazine has suggested this is due the weakness of other investments, such as stock markets and real estate. A recent RM Auction in Monaco set records for a 1-day venue and sold $8 million worth of cars on the block, plus a later high-dollar car not in the total. I'll be spending a few days at Mecum's Indy auction next week and I'm anxious to see if the US buyers and sellers go the same route as their European counterparts. With the recent sale here of a Bugatti for north of $30 million, don't be surprised if you see record high prices realized on this side of the Atlantic, too.
