The tents are up, the fences are strung, but the fields are empty...for now. The silence will cease this afternoon, just after 3 pm, when the gates open to allow vendors to enter the grounds of the Iola Old Car Show and find their place among 4,428 spaces.
This year, we'll be swingin' with 1960s cars and trucks, and there will be plenty of them. The show's staff reports there are a record number of cars signed up for the theme display, so if you charge toward Chargers or crave Camaros, Iola will have what you're looking for. And, don't forget, this weekend marks the first Collector Car Appreciation Day, as recognized by a resolution from the U.S. Senate, and what better way to celebrate it!
