Lisa Leathery, with 15 years of experience in event marketing,
is coordinating the new Fords at the Summit event.

A new event, billed as Fords at the Summit, will be held July 24-26 at Norwalk, Ohio. The event will include a car show, swap meet, car corral and manufacturers’ midway and is designed to show off Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Edsel vehicles.

The event will be held at Summit Motorsports Park, “America’s Race Track” in Norwalk and is a joint venture between the Bader family, owners of the motorsports facility, and Lisa Leathery of Events and Productions, formerly of Carlisle Events. Leathery was instrumental in the creation of the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals.

Fords at the Summit promises to deliver variety. For those who like to show off their ride, there will be a show competition called “The Ring Of Fire” recognizing vehicles that have achieved excellence in restoration and craftsmanship. A swap meet will give vintage Ford owners opportunities to locate hard-to-find parts. A display of historic T-bolts will be on hand to celebrate their 45th anniversary. Don Snyder’s bookend T-Bolts #1 originally delivered to Dick Brannan and #100, the Drew Ford car, will be part of the display. Car and truck corral, drag racing and a Ford-related manufacturer’s midway rounds out the event. UPR Products and Custom Wire Sets and Performance Products are event sponsors and will be present with demonstrations and product displays.

Adult Spectator admission for one day is $8; two days is $15; and a weekend pass is $20. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free of charge. Three days of drag racing are $65. Registration for the car show is $35 for the weekend and includes two adult admissions as well as a dash plaque. Vendor spaces are $69, and fees to sell a vehicle are $59.

For anyone looking to make Fords at the Summit part of a vacation, Cedar Point amusement park, recently named the best in the world, and Soak City Waterpark, are less than a half hour from Norwalk. Also nearby are Kalahari Resort, the nation’s largest indoor waterpark; Firelands Winery; Thomas Edison’s birthplace; Perry’s Cave; the Merry-Go-Round Museum; and Kelleys Island State Park. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is approximately an hour away in Cleveland.
