Chevy on the Mountain

When Larry Fechter of www.IolaOldCarShow.com was asked about how this Chevy truck was put on the fake mountain, he didn’t know for certain.

The question I was asked the most after the 2014 Iola Old Car Show was “How did they get the Chevy on the mountain?” The people who asked that were mystified b how a new Chevrolet pickup truck was hoisted on top of a fake mountain about 15 ft. high.

The dark blue Chevy Silverado crew cab pickup hovering above me caught my attention, too. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the Chevrolet representatives setting up their display, so I missed seeing how the truck got on the mountain.

The Monday after the show, I asked Larry Fechter — the car show facilities manager — how the truck got on the mountain. Larry wasn’t sure. He guessed that there was a four-post lift under the vinyl mountain that raised the truck up.

Other folks we talked to thought the truck may have been placed on top of the mountain with a big boom truck. That doesn’t seem as likely as the first theory, but who knows?

Apparently, a whole bunch of people would like to find out how Chevrolet (www.chevrolet.com) set up this exhibit.

We are betting that someone out there in Old Cars Weekly Land either watched Chevrolet set up its display or asked a Chevrolet rep how it was done and got a straight answer. If you know how it was done, please share the story with us.

There’s also a remote possibility that a Chevrolet representative who was working at the show will read this blog and let us know the answer.
