Here’s a four-door car that would cause quite a stir if it came to Iola 2014 (www.iolaoldcarshow.com) as a part of this year’s “Four for All in ‘14” theme exhibit. This 1923 Hispano Suiza H5A Victoria Town car has a six cylinder engine and six wheels and tires, but only four doors. They’re pretty large though.

Reportedly, the car was made in Barcelona, Spain. It has a custom body by Henry Binder The car was ordered by a king who was disposed, most likely King George II. He was the King of Greece in 1922 and 1923. Hollywood movie director D. W. Griffith then bought the car for $35,000. It appeared in the 1933 film “My Lips Betray” and was also seen in a few war movies.

This unique four-door model is part of the permanent collection that’s open to public view at the Forney Museum of Transportation (www.forneymuseum.org) in Denver, Colo. There are no plans to bring it to Iola during the second weekend of July, but there will be many other historically significant four-door cars there.

The four-door car theme reflects the four days of fun that the Iola Old Car Show brings to central Wisconsin. The July 10-13 venue will also have a second theme honoring the 50th year of the Ford Mustang.
