Plans for youth sports complex

Auburn, Ind. - According to an article posted by kpcmedia.com, the sale of RM Auctions’ Auburn Auction Park property in Auburn, Indiana, has been completed. The buyer of the property plans to convert the property to a youth sports complex.

The first collector car auction held in Auburn (some argue the first such auction held anywhere) was over Labor Day Weekend in 1971. Eventually, auctioneer Dean Kruse received approval from the city of Auburn to open the “Auburn Auction Park” in 1988 as a dedicated auction space. Throughout the years, the Auburn Auction Park has been the home to many spring and fall classic car auctions, the most popular being held over Labor Day Weekend each year. RM Auctions bought the Auburn Auction Park from Dean Kruse in 2010.

J.T. Fisher Properties LLC purchased the Auburn Auction Park on Jan. 24 and plans to construct a multi-million-dollar youth sports complex, according to kpcmedia.com. The sports complex will consist of eight baseball/softball fields, four soccer/Lacrosse fields with an additional 7-on-7 football field, as well as ten indoor basketball/volleyball courts to be retrofitted in the existing building. An additional six basketball/volleyball courts and a second 7-on-7 football field will be added within an additional dome structure that will be constructed on the north side of the building.

The new owners plan to sell lots on the south side of the property for hotels, restaurants, gas stations and commercial endeavors.

As of today, it is unclear whether RM Auctions will continue to host collector car auctions in Auburn. However, Worldwide Auctioneers has also established its own auction complex in Auburn and will continue hosting collector car sales there.
