Fall Branson features powerful lineup

Jim and Kathy Cox will host the second of their twice-annual auctions in Branson, Mo., on Oct 21-22. The auction will be held at the Branson Convention Center that is part of the Hilton Resort complex on Branson’s waterfront.

Cars already consigned to this sale include the longest-term single-owner 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 roadster (CSX2305), which was purchased new in Kansas City by Dr. Ed Johnson, who died earlier this year.

Also consigned is a Hemi 1969 Dodge Daytona that’s documented by Chrysler Corp. muscle car authority Galen Govier as being the highest-optioned Daytona in existence. In addition to its Hemi powerplant, this Daytona is equipped with a dealer-installed pearl white vinyl top, Super Trac-Pac, four-speed transmission, tinted windows, power disc brakes/windows/steering, 4:10 Dana rear gear, tachometer with clock and locking gas cap.

Another significant muscle car to be offered for sale is the first-production Hemi 1971 Plymouth Road Runner hardtop. Recently acquired from the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum, this Hemi Road Runner, 1 of 59 built in ’71, sports 49,000 miles.

For prewar enthusiasts, the auction will feature several Classic-era automobiles. Among them is a 1936 Pierce-Arrow 1602 Salon convertible coupe roadster that is one of only three built between 1936 and ’38 in this body style and powered by a V-12 engine.
