Mid America Motorworks gears up for VW fest
Thousands of air-cooled Volkswagens and their enthusiastic owners will converge June 6-7 in Effingham, Ill., for two days of VW mania.
Mid America Motorworks will celebrate its 35th Anniversary at Funfest for Air-Cooled VW 2009. Thousands of air-cooled Volkswagens and their enthusiastic owners will converge June 6-7 in Effingham, Ill., for two days of VW mania – Saturday and Sunday. New this year is a Volkswagen Auction where participants can buy and sell cars of all conditions.
The annual weekend event has grown steadily over the years to more than 1,300 Volkswagens of all descriptions and more than 8,000 enthusiasts. Participants come together for a weekend of special displays, a car show, swap meet, tech seminars, product demonstrations, a road tour and more.
The 2009 winners of Platinum Bug Award will be announced. The Platinum Bug Award is a life-time achievement award presented annually to enthusiasts who have shown long-term dedication to the preservation and promotion of the classic Volkswagen hobby for future generations.

Enthusiasts can register in advance at www.funfestacvw.com, or by calling 800-500-1500. All participants registered by May 22 will receive free admission, a free T-shirt and a free Funfest poster.
