Schumpf Bugattis destined for California exhibit
More than a dozen Bugattis from the Fritz Schlumpf’s estate will be displayed in California.
More than a dozen unrestored Bugattis will be displayed in Peter Mullin’s upcoming French Car Museum in Oxnard, Calif.
According to the American Bugatti Club’s publication, Pur Sang, many of the Bugattis are Type 57 and Type 40 models and all were among the cars returned to Frenchman Fritz Schlumpf’s estate by the French government. Six of the cars were among those Schlumpf purchased from equally well-known American John Shakespeare’s collection 45 years ago in a well-documented transaction.
The museum is expected to open in September.
