Tom Mack Auctions to move Spring Fling
Spring Fling 2010 to move to nearby Charlotte.
The new location is in Charlotte, N.C., about 20 minutes from the Speedway.
In making the announcement, Tom Mack Auctions CEO Tom Mack said the auction had outgrown the Speedway location. "We need a larger venue, as well as a facility where we can display the quality cars we have had the opportunity to offer indoors, out of the unpredictable Spring weather."
An indoor location will also present new opportunities. "We will be able to display some 250 vehicles indoors, and the auction will be held in a comfortable climate-controlled building," he noted, adding, "Although we will conduct our auction the same weekend as Autofair, we will work around their normal hours so our consignors and buyers can attend both events if they would like to."
Mack additionally said the new location would allow the company to reduce customers' fees and offer quality lodging at reasonable rates. They will continue to offer on-the-spot financing and transportation.
Mack was quick to point out that the change does not reflect on the company's past nine year relationship with the Speedway. "It has indeed been an honor for us to work with the staff and management of both Lowe's Motor Speedway and the Hornet's Nest Car Club presenting the auction at the Speedway during their Autofair for the past nine years," he said. "The folks there have been great to work with and we appreciate the confidence they placed in Tom Mack Auctions when they asked us to conduct the auction there 10 years ago."
The Spring Fling Auction normally offers some 200+ Southern collector cars, and it may be best remembered for the disposal of the Steve Green AMC Collection in Spring '09.
The Tom Mack team has been conducting collector car auctions and swap meets in the Charlotte, N.C. area since 1984. Their next event is the 26th Annual CHARLOTTE-IN-JANUARY Auction & Swap Meet at Metrolina Expo in Charlotte January 8-10.
