Nine Shelby automobiles will be displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum May 30 through June 3 in honor of their creator Carroll Shelby. Those cars include the prototype Cobra CSX2000, the first production Cobra CSX2001, a Cobra Daytona Coupe, a 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, and more.
In announcing its display, the Petersen Automotive Museum said, "Shelby would not want the world to mourn his death, but instead celebrate his life. Carroll Shelby International, Inc., Ford Motor Company, and the Petersen Automotive Museum will celebrate with an exhibit of iconic Shelby automobiles...
"There are few Americans who have the creativity, business savvy, competitive spirit and grit that it takes to become an automotive icon. Carroll Shelby was one of those people. The Petersen Automotive Museum of Los Angeles along with the rest of the automotive community worldwide was saddened to hear of the legend’s passing on May 10."
The Petersen Automotive Museum will extend its hours on May 30 until 9:00 p.m. for the opening of the exhibit. For general Museum information, call 323-930-CARS or visit the museum’s website at: www.petersen.org.
