Fuzz Bucket!

This fuzz-trimmed T-bucket was a stand out at the 2015 Cheaterama show.

I was really floored by the fuzzy interior in this Y-Bucket I saw at the Cheaterama in Milwaukee back in August. As much as I hate to admit it, interiors like this are what we dreamed of having in our cars back in the 1960s.

Back then people actually liked reading and bought car magazines in droves. A lot of the magazines covered hot rod shows and a lot of the cars displayed in those shows had fuzzy carpets, fuzzy seats and fuzzy covers on the rearview mirror.

Many cars were also displayed at the shows with mirrors under them to show their detailed chassis and fuzz all around the mirrors on the floor. I think the white fuzz was supposed to represent clouds or something. The hot rods looked like they were floating in the clouds.

It was a trend of that period and today it seems as silly as a Hoola-Hoop or a Pet Rock. But, at the time, it was “in” and everyone did it. Maybe it was because our brains were fuzzy, or something like that.

In any case, that’s why I like going to the Cheatrama every year. It draws some really period authentic hot rods and really has some of the most genuine “old school” hot rods in the Midwest every year. It’s really a you-don’t-want-to-miss-it show if you’re into traditional hot rods and customs.
