I was over at my new shop in Manawa, Wis., today and I looked out on the highway to see three old cars drive by. There was a Dodge Dart, a Nova and a Fairlane and they were obviously on their way to or from a car show. Seeing all three of them buzz by together made me realize how many compact and smaller mid-sized cars I've been seeing at the shows lately. And I thought about how this is a logical change, considering the rising price of gas and just about everything else you consume at shows. Cars like the Dart, Nova and Fairlane are the almost perfect collector cars for today's hobby. They don't take up a lot of space in a garage, they can go a bit further on fuel and they can fit a small, young family inside. No wonder the interest in them -- and the prices being paid for them -- are on an upswing.
