One thing I think the old-car hobby needs is a good Travel Directory. By this I mean a little, glovebox-size book -- like the National Street Rod Association's Fellow Pages -- that lists people all over the country who are willing to help you if your old car breaks down in their backyard.

Traveling is the backbone of our hobby. As collecors we drive our cars to shows, rallies and auctions. Parts vendors scoot back and forth across the country all summer. And sometimes we just like to take a cruise in our vintage vehicle on a Sunday afternoon.

But breaking down in an old car far from home can be a nightmare. That's why I think a Travel Directory would be a nice thing to have. And while we're on this topic, I'm wondering if anyone out there has a great "old-car breakdown" story to tell? -- Gunner
