I think I mentioned the "Coffee Clutchers" before, but this monthly gathering of gray-haired hot rodders in my area just keeps getting better. The Coffee Clutchers are just a bunch of guys who get together once a month for breakfast, followed by one or more garage tours. There's no club, no dues or no politics. Last week we met for breakfast at Damn Yankees watering hole in Hortonville, Wis. Now get this . . . a 4-egg omelet was $3 and there was NO CHARGE for coffee.. (Cute waitress, too!) There were over a dozen old cars or rods in the parking lot. Then, we went to Booky's Hot Rod Shop in Hortonville to see Jim Buchman's cars. After that, it was on to Phoenix Machine LLC in New London, Wis., where Mark Siedler builds hot rods and makes parts for them. Every month the Coffee Clutchers breakfast gets better. The April gathering drew 25 enthusiasts. In fact, it's getting hard to find places that can serve that many drop ins. I think this is something you should definitely try in your area.
