One hundred years ago, the first trip across the United States completed by a woman came to its successful end. Now, there are plans to honor the centennial of Alice Ramsey’s 1909 journey. Ramsey drove a Maxwell runabout across the country. This summer, a 1909 Maxwell, restored exactly as Alice's car looked, will trace the trip that Ramsey made. The Maxwell, which was restored by Richard Anderson of Washington state, will be driven by his daughter, Emily Anderson. She will drive it over the same route that Ramsey followed. Emily's trip will take place in June 2009. Later in the year, the car will be displayed at the Glemoor Gathering in Canton, Ohio.
