Fairfield County Concours partners with Bonhams for 2010 event
Premier auction house brings international recognition to the Fairfield County Concours
WESTPORT, Conn. - The internationally known auction house, Bonhams, will conduct a featured auction at the 2010 Fairfield County Concours d'Elegance event this weekend, Sept. 11-12. This marks the first time the Fairfield County Concours has aligned with an auction partner in its seven-year history, further establishing it as one of the preeminent automotive events in the nation.
Bonhams' one-day auction will take place on Sunday, Sept. 12. A preview will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, on the grounds of the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Conn., and exceptional consignments are to be expected. "As a market leader in collectible motor cars, Bonhams was an obvious choice for us. We are honored to have them on board," said Bill Scheffler, co-founder and chairman of the Fairfield County Concours d'Elegance.
"Bonhams has a long tradition of associating itself with the car collector world's most prominent events and we are delighted to move our popular Vintage New England fall auction to the Fairfield County Concours in 2010 as part of our continuing expansion in America," said Rupert Banner of the International Motoring Dept at Bonhams. "Bonhams fall auctions in recent years have included the sell-out $7.5 million Richard C. Paine Collection auction and sales of property from the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. We anticipate offering the finest pre- and post- war automobiles at this popular and growing concours event, with entries already including a 'time-warp' two owner from new 1916 Packard Twin Six Seven Passenger Touring."
The 7th annual Concours will take place Sunday, Sept. 12, the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Conn. The event will be a showcase for both the best of automotive and motorcycle design and engineering excellence. It will also serve as a forum for the education of its guests. This year, the event's featured judging classes will include Porsche, Bugatti and Period Hot Rods and Custom Cars from 1948-1964. Special exhibits will include the 24 Hours of LeMans, "Styled by the Wind" celebrating automotive aerodynamics, and a collection of elegant Packards with coachwork by Howard "Dutch" Darrin, including five special Packards from the collection of Ralph Marano.
Additionally, the Fairfield County Concours d'Elegance will hold its annual Nutmeg Tour for Autism fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 11, in support of the Drive to Treat Autism Fund which provides diagnostic and treatment services for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Both days feature will feature the Fairfield County Concours Art & Automobilia exhibits.
