Fairfield County Concours searches for barn finds

Register barn find autos and motorcycles by June 15

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance invites America to join in its search for barn find automobiles and motorcycles from within the contiguous United States for display at its eighth annual event on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, in Westport, Conn., and to apply to exhibit at the show through its website before June 15, 2011: www.fairfieldcountyconcours.com/barn.

The Fairfield County Concours, the first major event to present a Barn Find Featured Judging Class, is reprising last year’s crowd-pleasing competition and eagerly awaits another bumper crop of discoveries with fascinating stories.

Barn Finds are automobiles and motorcycles that have been “previously unknown, or known and unattainable, or discovered through obscure means; all with a great story,” explains Tom Cotter, renowned expert and author, and should still reflect the condition in which they were found. Concours attendees will vote for awards, and the first-place motorcycle winner will be included in Cotter's upcoming book on motorcycle barn finds.

Bringatrailer.com will be the Presenting Sponsor for our Barn Find search this year, joining us to make our 2011 search a great success,” said Bill Scheffler, chairman of the Fairfield County Concours. “They have become a real force in the collector vehicle space in just a short period, with a huge audience of classic car fans checking their daily features of cars for sale, and we are pleased to partner with them. We look forward to their periodic updates about the vehicles that are entered and their post-event feature on the automobile and motorcycle winners.”

Randy Nonnenberg, Bringatrailer.com’s editor-in-chief, comments that, “We at Bring A Trailer are excited to partner with the 2011 Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance for the promotion of their people’s choice Barn Find class. Our website specializes in discovering and featuring the best classics for sale, and our barn find features tend to stir more excitement than any others. We look forward to bringing that energy and excitement to the event this year, and can’t wait to see what hidden cars are discovered in the coming months.”

The Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance will showcase more than 200 of the world’s most extraordinary automobiles and motorcycles spanning the past 100 years and host the Bonhams Motor Vehicle and Automobilia Auction. For further information, visit the website, www.fairfieldcountyconcours.com.
