The upcoming “Fords at the Summit” show at Summit Motorsports Park, July 23-24, will have something for everyone, to be sure, but one display should be of particular interest to folks interested in classic Shelby Mustangs.
George Conrad has fifteen Shelby Mustang GT350’s and GT500’s, all ranging from 1965 to 1970. One of the most extensive collections of its kind in the country, the representation of the GT brand includes car number 223 with 14,900 original miles, and the newest of the group, a 1970 Grabber Blue GT500.
Car number 223 has just 14,900 original miles.
The Conrad collection was started roughly 20 years ago with the growing success of the owner’s newfound company, GeoCorp Inc. GeoCorp is an industry leader in thermocouple technology and the brainchild of Conrad.
The entire list of cars on display from Conrad’s 52-car collection will include the 1965 GT350, two 1966 GT350’s, four 1967 GT500’s, three 1968’s, one GT350 and two GT500’s, four 1969’s, evenly split, and the 1970 GT500.
The Fords at the Summit event will take place at the Norwalk based track, and will include a car show, car corral, swap meet, manufacturer’s midway, specialty displays and of course, drag races. Gary Fore will have his jet powered Super Cobra Jet, and Animal Jim Feurer in his ’79 Mercury Zephyr Pro Mod will be there making exhibition runs, along with so much more.
