The McDorman Sign Auction will take place Sept. 11-12, at Bob McDorman Chevrolet in Canal Winchester, Ohio. The no reserve auction features more than 1,000 vintage signs, parts and automotive collectibles.
“Bob McDorman’s sign collection contains some of the largest and most significant pieces in the automotive memorabilia world,” said President Dana Mecum. “Avid collectors searching for from-the-factory pieces will find a wealth of items to choose from, such as a working 10-foot-by-27-foot Chevrolet Bowtie sign that stood over the St. Louis Corvette assembly plant. With such amazing history, a McDorman sign would be a great addition to any collection.”
Mecum will sell a colorful Chevrolet clock sign – one of the hardest pieces to find – that measures 8 foot by 6 foot and is in excellent condition. A 10-foot tall vintage Chevrolet Starburst sign is fully operational and one of the most colorful produced by the automaker.
The McDorman Sign Collection also contains a 5-foot Buick logo sign. With few examples available today, this fully operational GM vintage sign would be a unique addition to any sign or Buick collection.
Mecum has arranged online bidding for interested buyers who are unable to attend.
