O’Reily AutoRama back for 50th in February

Top customs, north Texas standouts to highlight golden anniversary

The milestone auto show will feature a salute to the past five decades, as well as a stellar lineup of custom cars, motorcycles, race cars, tuners, trucks and family entertainment at Dallas Market Hall.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama is sanctioned by the International Show Car Association (ISCA) and is part of the Summit Racing Show Car Series

“I’m proud that AutoRama has become such an important part of the culture in North Texas that we’re now celebrating our golden anniversary,” said Tom Williams, show producer at Championship Auto Shows Inc. “For more than five decades, the passion of taking an automobile and making it your own has been passed from generation to generation. This year’s Dallas event will be a celebration of that amazing gift.”

An anniversary display, along with the complete collection of automobiles on the show floor, will honor five decades of passion for custom vehicles. The feature car lineup is highlighted by the Drag City USA exhibit presented by Reed Speed, where some of the most storied dragster’s in NHRA history will be on display. Dragsters headed to Dallas include Connie Kalitta’s 1967 “Bounty Hunter,” Don Prudhomme’s 1970 “Wynn’s Winder,” and “Swamp Rat III,” “Swamp Rat IV” and “Swamp Rat VIII” driven by Don Garlits in the 1960s. One of last year’s most popular displays, the Motorama exhibit presented by Ol’ Skool Rodz, will be back in 2010 and feature even more of the area’s best traditional rodz.

Celebrity appearances will be headlined by WWE superstar Melina and UFC fighter Rich Franklin. Additional attractions will include a toy show for kids, a new Game Hype gaming area, the always popular burnout contests and the cacklefest with a vintage nitro dragster.

Show hours are Friday, 3-10:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m-7 p.m. General admission tickets can be purchased at Dallas Market Hall for $14 (adults) and $5 (ages 6-12); children five years old and under will be admitted for free. Discount tickets are offered at Dallas/Fort Worth-area O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.
