YPSILANTI, Mich. ' On Saturday, June 2, the orphans will be rolling into (and out of) Ypsilanti, Mich., for the Pre-Ypsilanti Car Show Excursion. The scenic excursion is a warm-up event for the 11th annual Ypsilanti Orphan Car Show that will be held Sunday, June 3 in the city's downtown Riverside Park.

This years events are sponsored by the Walter P. Chrysler Museum.

The scenic excursion is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum with breakfast at the world's last Hudson dealership. After breakfast, the tour will hit the road and head over to Farmington Hills to view the private auto collection of Ed Muerer.

The Muerer collection includes 85 vintage vehicles including a 1924 Nash Roadster and a 1935 Packard Convertible Sedan Lomousine all tucked away in a 20,000 sq.-ft. building that includes an eclectic mix of automobilia, mobile homes, vintage gas pumps and dealer signs.

From there the tour will take a midday repast at Moe's on Ten in Novi before cruising on over to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. While there, drivers and their guests can opt for a short jaunt or an ambitious hike through the 300 acre site or simply take in the breathtaking displays of the outdoor gardens and the indoor conservatory.

The tour will wind down at the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum at 6 p.m. for a hors d'oeuvres reception.

Convenient parking is available at all stops and a suggested route of paved roads between destinations will be provided. Tour participants will travel as a caravan.

Cost for the Pre-Ypsilanti Car Show Excursion, payable by registration by May 25, is $47 per person for the full day event, $35 per person for the daytime tour only and $35 for the evening reception only.
