The 40th Annual Intermountain Concours d'Elegance (formerly Utah Concours d’Elegance) will be held Aug. 27 at Thanksgiving Point's Gardens in Lehi, Utah.
The festivities will run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. More than 150 exotic, antique, and collector automobiles will be artistically displayed in the Gardens representing all eras of automobile history. This year, the show features cars from the Great Race of 1908, World Race of 2011, Salt Flat Racers and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet.
The cost of the event is $17 for adults, $10 for children (3-12) and $14 for senior (65+) and includes full access to the gardens. Proceeds will be donated to The Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point and other local charities.
"We are excited to assemble a fine collection of rare, vintage and classic automobiles in such a magnificent venue as Thanksgiving Gardens," said Chris Purdum, president and chairman of the Intermountain Concours d’Elegance.
The Thanksgiving Point Gardens represent some of the most vivacious terrain in the West and is spread out over fifty-five sprawling acres in Lehi, Utah. The individual gardens are organized like the rooms of an immense estate, with thousands of trees, shrubs and grasses serving as living barriers between spaces, creating a sense of wonder as guests pass from "room" to "room." Add to that 13 acres of turf grass, a quarter million tulips, seventy varieties of roses, and the largest manmade waterfall in the Western hemisphere and you have the makings of a world class venue for a Concours.
In conjunction with the car show, the Concours Dinner & Show will feature Jeff Mahl, great-grandson of George Schuster, winner of the Great Race of 1908. He will deliver a first person account of his great-grandfather’s experiences in 1908 blended with his own modern day experiences of World Race 2011 on stage from the seat of the Thomas Flyer movie car. Cost is $60 per person.
