Toronto Collector Car Auction this weekend
Hundreds of historic North American-built vehicles for sale April 8-10, 2011.
Lot : SP99 -- 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible
For over 40 years the world famous Canadian Forces Snowbirds Demonstration Team have entertained millions of air show spectators across North America as international ambassadors for Canada. Their aircraft of choice has been the venerable CT-114 Tutor Jet built in the mid-sixties by Canadair (now Bombardier) manufacturers of private and commercial aircraft.
One of these iconic aircraft will be offered along with hundreds of other historic North American-built vehicles at Canada's oldest and largest collector car auction event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada - April 8-10.
This fully documented aerobatic aircraft was flown by the Canadian Forces 431 Squadron team in the 1990s and retains its symbolic red, white and blue colors, cockpit instruments, controls and ejection seats. Since being retired from active service, this aircraft is expected to become a candidate for restoration or historical museum display.
An extensive collection of documentation including log books and complete maintenance and service records will accompany this sale. It is one of only four known CT-114s Tutor aircraft under private ownership and represents a rare opportunity to acquire an historic milestone of Canada's important aviation heritage. A military variant (known as a CL-41G) used by the Royal Malayan Air Force was once owned by actor and pilot John Travolta who donated his aircraft to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2001. Another notable civilian owner of this rare aircraft is RE/MAX founder and aviation enthusiasts Dave Liniger.
