Rare '58 DeSoto convertible added to PA museum

One of only seven produced
Image placeholder title

A 1958 DeSoto Firesweep Convertible, one of only 700 produced, has been added to the displays at Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum in Pottsville, Pa.

The DeSoto was a true barn find, with the front end disassembled for apparent engine work, and has not been on the road since 1972. Jerry and Janet Enders, museum owners, waited eight years for an estate to be settled in order to begin restoration of this rare and intriguing automobile. The car, complete with AM radio and dual fender mirrors, is two-tone green and still has the original green convertible top. After a few road trips, the DeSoto is now on display, and is one of the most unique automobiles of the ‘50s in the collections. An identical car was used in the 1959 movie “Pillow Talk” starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson.

Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum is open May through October on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Noon to 5 pm. The Museum is available other times and days for group tours or car clubs. More information is available at or call 888-802-6605.
